Thanks for taking the time to fill in the site survey sheet; I understand that you used the search engine to find a website to learn about vita services, and the pages on http://www.vita-volunteers.org you did see did not provide any information about VITA, the organization, all it offers and who can apply.

If you are still interested, please permit me to make a few clarifications. 

On the http://www.vita-volunteers.org home page is the following information: “ Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) volunteers provide FREE Income Tax Preparation Assistance to low-Income, elderly, disabled and limited English speaking people. Volunteers are trained and certified by the IRS.    The “ link takes you to a page which provides background information and who to contact for additional information.  Also, all the information you can use and more is available on the IRS website at http://www.irs.gov

As for “Who can apply”, since you came from a search engine, I presume you wanted to apply to be a volunteer providing tax preparation services.  If you thought that to use the services you needed to apply, then note that this site is geared towards directing potential volunteers to volunteer opportunities.

If you have any further comments or questions, please add them to the section following this post, and I will try to answer them as soon as possible.

Thank for filing in the survey form.  I am glad you successfully found the contact information you needs with a high level of satisfaction, and the contact form most valuable.  It is my personal view that the primary goal is to put the potential volunteers in touch with the site coordinator of choice as quickly as possible, so that the minimum amount of time is spent on playing telephone tax and taking down multiple phone numbers incorrectly, illegibly and transferring them to spreadsheets manually.  The form is to provide background information of your own choosing to the site coordinator as soon as he or she is ready to accept it.  It also provides the site coordinators whose site you may be interested in to contact you.

Thanks for your response.  It appear that you did not complete the purpose of your visit which was training.  If you were looking to be trained at the website, your disappointment can be well misunderstood, since it is not the mission of the website to provide a training experience.  It appears that you derived some value from learning that training takes several days and hours, and that you did not like that….However, please consider that if training was easy and did not take time, tax payers could easily prepare the returns without the help of hardworking volunteers.

Thanks for your response.  Since you came from a link on another website, and you wanted more detail on TaxWise and could not find it, it indicates you were engaged on a focused search, possibly even for TaxWise.  The product is a commercial one and as the website implies, the best place for more detailed information would be the website of the product manufacturer.  What is provided in the http://www.vita-volunteers.org is some experience and options on the use for VITA purposes, rather than complete information which can best be obtained by the manufacturer who might find the website infringing on their copyrights if all the details were provided on it.
