Dear visitor at 14:43,
Glad you managed to register and letting us know.  The information about training is not available at the national level, so when the information arrives at the IRS office in charge of the VITA sites close to you, the SPEC Relationship manager will be able to provide you the information.  In addition, at the time you left this message, planning for the next tax season was just getting started, and it is around this time that training is being planned.
In some places, training happens during January.  In other places, training sessions start in November and December.  This is also the online training option available through Link and Learn website.

Dear visitor at 13:18,
Sorry you could not find the contact information for getting information about your taxes.  This site is set up for volunteers interested in helping provide the services.  However, having said that, here are some possible suggestions on how to get the results you want.  It appears that you worked with a VITA site to start the return.  It is not clear if the return was filed.  If you remember signing the paper copy of the your return, then one of two things may have happened: the IRS may have received it, in which case you should be able to get a tax transcript from the IRS.  If the IRS never received it, then your return was not filed.
On the other hand, if you gave a signed authorization by means of a signed 8879 for the site to electronically file the return, then a copy of that form would provide the Declaration Control Number (DCN) which can be used to trace the return status.  If you did not remember authorizing the electronic filing, then it is likely that it was not filed.
As I read your comment again, it is not clear if the return was filed but you did not know if it was accepted, or if you did not receive your refund, or if you want a copy of your return, or if your return was ever filed in the first place.

Dear visitor at 18:75
Most of sites shut down after April 15; a few are open with limited hours and volunteer staff, and calling the main toll-free 800 number for the IRS will help you get that iformation.  This detailed listing of dates and times are not available to the webmaster.  Also, this site is targeted to volunteers instead of taxpayers, so this is the wrong place for your query.

Dear visitor at 16:33
Thank you for expressing your success in completing the purpose of your visit.  It has been the contention of the webmaster that in terms of capturing relevant information to assign it to the person best to handle the inquiry, the process you like is most efficient in terms of the time taken.  Information is entered only once, with very little opportunity for making mistakes in transcription from voicemail or scraps of paper, and an electronic trail is left of the messages.

Dear visitor at 21:48
Thank you for expressing your experience.  In early May, the tax preparation season is over, and even those who are looking for volunteers are taking breathers.   Now is the time to try and volunteer again by filling in the online signup form at http://www.vita-volunters.org/online_signup.aspx where your information will be forwarded to the main VITA headquarters for routing to the local office.  This may take time, but at least you will get an official response.

Could not find a local office and number and what services were available.  Reach someone on a number who referred me to someone else who then was unavailable to take my call.  Left a message but no return call was made.  I need to start all over again with my urgent tax oproblem.  Since it was Friday, I'll have to wait until Monday I think.  Some links lead me to sites that had nothing to do with what I wanted.

Dear visitor at 18:11
Sorry you could not find the information you wanted.  The information you are looking for is not easily available in one spot, and does require going through the toll-free 800 number of the IRS to get what might be a definitive answer.  This modest website has no special connection to that information beyond what is already available on the irs.gov website and the world wide web.  Also, the main tax season for 2008 is was pretty much over in mid-April, so many of the sites that could help you are closed until next year.
